Terms and Conditions
You have purchased travel arrangements from our agency. We appreciate your business and want to make sure that you completely understand all aspects of your arrangements.
With all travel arrangements, Genie Travel acts only as an agent. Our agency maintains no control over the personnel, equipment or operations of any supplier and assumes no responsibility for, and shall not be expected, asked, or required to pay for any financial loss, personal injury, property damage, other loss, accident, delay, inconvenience, or irregularity which you may experience either by reason of:
-
Nonperformance by any supplier for whatever reason:
-
Wrongful, careless, negligent, or unauthorized acts or omissions on the part of any supplier or its employees or on the part of any other party not under the control of Genie Travel; or
-
Any defect, breakdown or other failure of any aircraft, train, automobile, ship, accommodation or other equipment or instrumentality owned, operated, or otherwise used by a supplier.
-
Weather, terrain, “acts of God”, or anything else that is not under the direct control of Genie Travel.
Please check all names, dates, and prices for accuracy. Names are difficult if not impossible to change; date changes can affect availability and price. Suppliers charge penalties to change names, dates and other items that affect the overall price of the trip.
Documentation
Documentation is required for all types of travel. Names must be spelled exactly as they are listed on either your driver’s license or passport. Passports or a state issued birth certificate will be required depending on your destination. More information can be found at https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/identification
Beginning May 3, 2023, every air traveler 18 years of age and older will need a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license, state-issued enhanced driver’s license, or another acceptable form of ID to fly within the United States.
Check for the star.
REAL ID-compliant cards are marked with a star at the top of the card. If you’re not sure, contact your state driver’s license agency on how to obtain a REAL ID compliant card.
For information by state, including where to obtain a REAL ID, visit the DHS REAL ID website and click your state on the map.
Certain countries will not admit a passenger, if their passport expires within six (6) months of the date of entry. Non-United States citizens may require additional documentation.
Children and infants also require the same travel documents.
Minors may require additional documentation if traveling alone or if either parent is not the birth parent.
Genie Travel has the right to charge additional fees if changes need to be made to existing reservations because documents are not valid or have not been received.
Entry Requirements
Each foreign country holds different views of past criminal offenses, whether within or outside of their boundaries. If you have a current or past offense, and you are unsure how the country you are traveling to (or through) views that offense, please contact that country directly for entry and exit requirements. (Details can be found at http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/cis/cis_4965.html.) For example, if traveling to or through Canada, Americans with a Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) record should always check whether current rules exclude admission, and potential waivers. Travel Advisories
Travelers should read government-issued travel prohibitions, warnings, announcements, and advisories before booking any travel. This information can be obtained from:
www.state.gov, www.tsa.gov,
www.dot.gov, www.faa.gov,
www.cdc.gov, www.treas.gov/ofac and www.cbp.gov
Car Rentals
Car rentals require all renters to have a major credit card, many times debit cards are not accepted. In addition, age restrictions may also apply. Some states will check driving records and may refuse to rent to someone whose driving record is questionable. Make sure you bring a copy of your car insurance with you for proof in case you have a problem and have elected not to take the rental companies insurance.
Insurance
Trip cancellation and trip interruption insurance are available at an additional cost to protect you from certain unexpected events. The terms of insurance coverage are controlled by the actual insurance policy issued.
As the client it is your responsibility to weigh the pros and cons of travel insurance and to ensure that you have coverage for all medical needs. You should also be aware of trip cancellation and change penalties. Concerns or fear of travel are never covered reasons for cancellation reimbursement. Make sure you are aware of what the insurance will and will not cover. Genie Travel is not liable for the client’s decision to not purchase travel insurance or any denial of claim by the travel insurer if it relates to Covid-19 or any other claims under the policy.
If you have purchased travel insurance you will receive a refund from the insurance company or supplier if your reason for cancellation is covered under the policy purchased, less the amount you spent for insurance. Genie Travel also reserves the right to charge a cancellation penalty depending on what is required to secure a refund on your behalf.
Promotions and Pricing
Price and availability of all travel and other services is subject to change without notice. Tax on hotel, car, air and other transactions is a recovery of all applicable transaction taxes (e.g. sales and use, occupancy, room tax, excise tax, value added tax, etc.) that Genie Travel pays to suppliers in connection with your travel arrangements. Taxes vary by location and type of service provided. Genie Travel is not a co-vendor and is not the entity that collects and remits taxes to the tax authorities.
Groups
If you are traveling with other people, you are also agreeing to make sure that everyone in your party is aware of any restrictions, warnings and other protocols that may be required.
Payments and Cancellations
Unless otherwise defined during the reservation process, final payment is due prior to departure according to each supplier’s (airline, hotel, cruise line, transfer company, sightseeing operators, and other travel service vendors) terms and conditions involved in your travel booking. If final and full payment is not received by the applicable due date, reservations are subject to cancellation and deposits shall be forfeited. In some cases, there is NO REFUND once a booking is made and paid for. Your right to a refund if you change or cancel your travel plans is limited. As a result of cancellation, third party supplier’s cancellation penalties will apply, which are detailed in your travel documentation, and each supplier’s Web site. Cancellation penalties are advised at time of booking and provided to you upon confirmation. If you have any questions, or any penalties are unclear, please contact your agent at Genie Travel. All cancellation fees are deducted from the supplier’s refund.
Refunds
Availability of refunds for unused travel reservations will vary with the type of reservation and the point at which reservations were not used. Please note that when you purchase travel services, your money immediately belongs to the supplier. If you cancel Genie Travel will not refund money until it has been received from the supplier. In the event of any supplier bankruptcy, you should seek refunds directly from the supplier or bankruptcy court.
COVID-19
Covid-19 is a known and continuing pandemic that has and will continue to affect travel worldwide.
Our agents will do our best to keep you informed of current global outbreaks and travel restrictions.
You should be aware of the latest travel information with the CDC, https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/notices
Your destination(s) may have pre-travel testing requirements for entry and/or exit due to COVID-19. You are responsible for obtaining the appropriate documentation/testing for entry for all travelers within your party. Many tourism boards and hotel properties provide this information on their website. The situation with COVID-19 is a fluid
situation where requirements are changing constantly, and you are responsible for ensuring that you are compliant at the time of travel.
Immigration restrictions may be put in place before or during your travels that may impede your ability to enter or exit your destination as planned.
If testing is required, please note that many destinations do not allow home tests or antigen tests. Genie Travel encourages that you verify all testing is within the appropriate time period of departure and that you have received the correct form of testing for your destination(s).
The choice to travel is a personal decision and all travelers are responsible for following all airline and vendor protocols. Genie Travel is not liable for any losses due to a lack of COVID-19 pre-travel compliance or cancellations due to closures. Travel involves the risk of a variety of hazards to health and/or safety (including, but not limited to injury, illness, death) of which Genie Travel is not responsible.
