The Island of Oahu
Oahu is home to the city of Honolulu which is the capital of Hawaii. It is also where you will find Waikiki Beach and Pearl Harbor. It is a city with towering hotels, apartment buildings and condos. But, within the city and outside the city are many wonderful gems to enjoy and explore.
The North Shore of Oahu
The North Shore of Oahu is famous for surfing. Surfers flock here each year to catch perfect waves in a very competitive environment. Hale’iwa is a charming surf town which is the gateway to the North Shore. Grab some food, check out the storefront galleries and surf shops and be sure to try some “shave ice.” You can stroll along white sand beaches for miles, taking in the gorgeous views, and the quiet neighborhoods.
Pearl Harbor is a symbol of America, known for its historic role in fighting to protect the nation’s democracy and freedom. Pearl Harbor has three main places of interest:
‘Iolani Palace is a Hawaiian national treasure and is the nation’s only true palace. The grand palace was the official residence of Hawaii’s last reigning monarchs, King Kalakaua and Queen Lili’uokalani. The palace is surrounded by beautifully manicured grounds and is filled with history and artifacts from that period. Self-guided and guided tours are offered daily.
