Half the battle of a successful family getaway is picking the right location. What does it take for an island to meet the mark? First, the basics: abundant sunshine, pristine beaches and a safe atmosphere. After that comes plenty of family-friendly activities and opportunities for adult relaxation. The right destination also needs to be easy to get to and get around. That's a tall order, but luckily there are plenty of viable options. Here are our personal favorites guaranteed to make everyone happy.
Note: Many of our clients think they should avoid the Caribbean due to recent hurricane damage. We can assure you that the islands listed below, as well as 70% of the Caribbean islands, are definitely open for business and would gladly welcome your visit.
It's Never Shameful to Make Sure You're Getting the Most
Travelers want to experience the destination. They want to tap the culture, see the world through a local’s eyes, and live like a member of the host community. And if they don’t, they should. However, it can be difficult to live like a local on vacation and this is especially the case with international travel. There’s too much to take in. That being said, travelers who take on the independence approach, and think third party itineraries and guided tours rob them of the indigenous experience and are some cliché activity our grandparents do, are simply wrong. Steering from the unbeaten path completely is not necessarily the best route to discovering more about yourself and the world.
A Vacation Destination for July
As everyone knows, Europe and the “biggies,” such as, Spain, Italy and France are some of THE top tourist destinations of the world every summer. And of course that means crowds, higher prices, hotter weather, and all that yucky uncomfortable and somewhat miserable stuff. But believe it or not, France should make your July destination list! The weather is really not bad, there is a plethora of events, seasonal produce is in full bloom, all of the flea markets are open, and the beaches are impatiently waiting for you. Not to mention the wine…now is the best time to stop by the vineyards!
Why Italy? And When?
Summer means travel. Back up the necessities, round up the family and go somewhere! This is an international standard. This is when we find time to take the "big" trips and experience the world. And though not everyone will find the time or resources to fly across the pond, Europe is and will remain at the top of the summer destination list for most adventurer seekers, families, and couples, in especially, Italy. But, when should you go and when should you begin planning?
